Renaissance Hotel 57 – New York

Renaissance Hotel 57 New York
Renaissance Hotel 57 New York

I love this “boutique” (Yes, they called it boutique) hotel in New York City. The location is excellent, is in the corner of 57th and Lexington. It’s close to the subway, shopping and walking distance to central park (about 5 blocks)… Who doesn’t like a stroll down central park… see the seasons change on each tree…

The front desk is boutique it has only two small desks with one friendly staff member each. To get to the room you need take an elevator to the second level where they have a restaurant and a second elevator to the room. The hotel has a gym and business center, just everything you need for a short stay.

Renaissance Hotel 57 New York Room

The “Superior” rooms are quite spacious with plenty of closet space and the queen bed is quite comfortable. The “Cozy” rooms are very small, the bed is provably a full size. The bed are either very comfortable or I was very tired… i think comfortable.

There’s a desk right in front of the bed and next to the window which makes it more luminous and it don’t take any additional space in the room, the room has a really great layout.

The bathrooms are big for New York, they are modern and spacious.

The toiletries are from Aveda and their scent is quite pleasant.

At the time I went the hotel didn’t have room service and no mini bar in the room, but if you ask for a fridge they would bring you a small.

Falling for Fall Trends

Fall has arrived! I’m loving some fall trends… one of my favorites are flower embroidered shoes. I just got this Rebecca Minkoff, I’m going to wear them so much, that by the end of the season they are going to be flat. I can wear them with everything, black, pinks, reds and every color in between.

Here are my top favorite fall trends for 2016

  • Bomber jacket – I really don’t think I’m going to be able to pull this one off.  Any suggestions?
  • Flower patterns – What I like about this trend is that is going to extend summer a little bit longer… Hopefully more than 3 weeks
  • Oversized – Obsessed with oversized! Specially coats.
  • Embroidered shoes and jackets – I’m going to be buying so many shoes this winter! Metallic, patched, pearled and velvet shoes are also on my list.
  • One-shoulder and bare-shoulder sweaters – I’m not sure how bare my shoulders are going to be this fall but I definitely love this trend too.
  • Velvet – I’m going to have to control myself with this one. I want to buy everything velvet but I know I will get tired of it by the end of 2016.
  • Neutrals – So easy to match and so worry-free! Tans, grays… I hope neutrals are here to stay!

Let’s see how long this trends last…

Play Box

Have you ever subscribe to one of those “subscription boxes” or “box of the month”?  After a long time I decided to give them a try… I was always felt this curiousity about them… What is this obsession? Why do people get them? How good are they? Who orders them? What do they expect? For how long do they subscribe? Are people happy with what they get?

But the my number one question is… Which one should I try?… There are hundreds of options… Where do I start? Candies, snacks, organic, wine, geeky, socks, spices, beauty, skin care, make up, clothes, accessories, books, crafts, babies (you don’t get an actual baby… just stuff for babies). I even found snacks boxes with treats from Korea, France, Iceland and even Cuba!

I received an email from Sephora’s box, Play by Sephora… It was a sign; or an easy option since it only contains 5 travel size items and Sephora its a place that I can easily shop at. What could go wrong?…

Here are the results the result…

Barceloneta

If you happen to love tapas, Spanish food AND sharing… this is the place for you.

The dining room is fill mostly with white wood tables and black chairs, there’s plenty of wood surrounding the open kitchen wall, the smooth concrete grey floors match and compliment the whole decor.

It’s not my first time in Barceloneta and every time I visit I see slight changes, whether it’s in the decor or the menu… and so far I have no complains.

Barceloneta Tortilla de Patatas

The Tortilla de Patatas is a typical Spanish dish that it’s made with only a few ingredients. Eggs, onion and potatoes. This one in particular comes with an allioli sauce on the side.

Barceloneta Restaurant Miami Beach
Barceloneta Mollejas Fritas

The Mollejas Fritas was a very yummy dish… the sweetbread was fried and it came with a mix of vegetables and the perfect amount of bacon.

Barceloneta Restaurant Miami Beach
Barceloneta Arroz Negro con Calamar

Arroz Negro con Calamar. The presentation as well as the taste is superb… The black rice made with squid ink sauce, baby squid and cuttlefish is a perfect combination,  with delicious bright orange prawns topping the rice.

Barceloneta Restaurant Miami Beach
Barceloneta Pulpo a Feira

The picture doesn’t do justice to this plate. Pulpo a Feira was by far the best plate of the night. (yes, for me it was better than the rice)  The octopus has the perfect texture and mix with potatoes, tomato comfit and thinly sliced chorizo… it’s all top of with a potato foam that softens the strong chorizo taste.

Barceloneta Restaurant Miami Beach
Barceloneta Tosta de Iberico

If you like ham, prosciutto and charcuterie you will love Tosta de Iberico. Real fresh tomato is spread over a baguette and top of with an Iberico ham.

Barceloneta Restaurant Miami Beach
Barceloneta Huevos Rotos

How can a simple dish make me so happy?! Huevos Rotos it’s just potatoes, onion, eggs and Jamon Iberico… I think it’s the Jamon… maybe it’s some secret ingredient that I don’t know about…

Barceloneta Restaurant Miami Beach
Barceloneta Pudin de Chocolate

Pudin de Chocolate dessert is hot chocolate bread pudding top with a hazelnut ice cream sprinkle with hazelnuts.

Barceloneta Restaurant Miami Beach
Barceloneta Copa de Caramelo

Copa de Caramelo is one of the best desserts I’ve ever tried. A caramel mousse with raspberries at the bottom, the mousse is top with raspberries and crunchy chocolate cookie with a hint of salt.

The food is always good and it reminds me of Spain.

See bellow part of the menu and things I missed… (sorry for the blurry pictures)
